Picture it: Kentville in the early 1980s. A young teenage boy named Peter Kalkman begins working for his uncle. He gains knowledge, strength, and experience. He works hard and grows up to become the owner of his own excavation company, PK Construction Ltd, at the age of twenty-six. His equipment includes a backhoe, dozer, and dump truck. His only employee is his long time friend until the company receives a municipal contract to install water and sewer lines and several municipal and commercial contracts for plowing snow.

Time passes and more employees and equipment are added to the company to meet the demand, especially once Peter purchases a local septic tank pumping business and adds septic services to his company’s offerings. Peter becomes a certified QP Septic System Installer and is qualified to do perc tests, pump septic tanks, and repair septic systems.

After 25 years of serving Kentville and the Annapolis Valley, Peter and PK Construction Ltd:

have designed and installed hundreds of septic systems
are authorized installers of Mascore screw piles
offer over a dozen aggregate products for delivery
provide commercial snow and ice solutions
employ nearly 20 people
have increased their fleet size to over 100 vehicles and equipment
